Boarding
Facilities and Rates at Tahoe Meadows
As experienced horse professionals we know about taking care of
horses in Tahoe's year round weather. We generally
have 300 beautiful days of sunshine a year in Tahoe, but we also have
temperature swings so blanket and turnout monitoring is key.
Horses are fed twice to three times a day and stalls are cleaned daily.
All stalls have 12X24 attached paddocks and we turn out as often as possible
in our larger turnouts. Basic Blanketing is included in
Board. Scheduling vets and shoers is handled
by your trainer as is horse health monitoring, riding and exercise
schedule, special turnout, horse grooming and show
training.

Training Barn - Tahoe Meadows is a training barn and the
horses are managed by their trainer as part of their regular program. We request that all horses be in a
training program unless special arrangements have been made with Tahoe
Meadows.
Notes on Winter Care: All water is heated so the
horses drink better. We firmly believe in letting horses be
horses so we try to keep the barn doors and stall doors open as much as
possible, day and night. Horses never mind cold...it is the wind
they need to get out of. In the winter, we require a good
waterproof blanket. We rarely
double blanket unless a horse has been show clipped. On very nice
winter days we will pull the blankets.
Remember: Barn is closed on Mondays. Owners may always
visit, but it is also nice to let the horses have a day of minimal
disruption and rest. Cleaning and feeding will get done, but staff is off
other than Pony Camp staff. Please never disturb the house
unless it is an emergency.
A couple of RULES
- Wear Helmets and Boots when riding.
- No jumping without a trainer. It is recommended that you not
ride alone. Always carry a cell phone.
- No juniors at the barn or riding without supervision, either trainer by
appointment or parent.
- Remember, you are always under the direction of your
trainer. Please check all horse activities with them whether
you have a lesson or not.
- Dismount before leaving the indoor arena. Always close indoor
arena gate. Ask permission to enter.
- A trainer must be present when jumping in the Ring or Cross Country. Trainer
requires helmets and boots, Flak Vest for Cross Country is recommended
for schooling.
- The aisle floors have rubber mats down the center but get slippery
when wet...Scrap water from baths and snow balls out of
feet before walking into barn aisle.
- In the winter there is snow and sometimes ice. Please be aware
and pay attention to where you walk your horse.
- We prefer no dogs however if you bring them they are not permitted loose. Please keep all dogs
on leases. Proof of liability insurance is required. You are responsible for any incident or injury
your dog causes. NO DOGS IN THE OFFICE or Lounge.
- Don't tie to anything except cross ties in stalls and cemented center
posts in outside pens.
- Please keep horses off lawns. They are welcome to graze in the
fields around the arenas.
- Pick up any Manure you drop in the parking areas or wash rack.
- No turn out in the Arenas. There will be a $250 fine if we
have to repair an arena.
SAFETY WARNINGS - Overall, do what your trainer directs you to do
- These are provided for information.
We have a lot of deer who like to lay down and then pop up
unexpectedly causing horses to shy. Please be alert when you are trail riding.
We recommend that when you are on the trails you walk when heading in
the direction home to keep horses under control. When working in
our open hunt fields be aware that the horses will want to get quick
when working in the direction towards the barn.
Hwy 80 and other roads are not fenced. We recommend you stay on the improved paths
on the property. If you choose to ride out on federal land, please go out
and come back on the back of the property and be aware that the paths are not improved
and have hikers, dirt bikes and other hazards. You must have
trainer or parent approval to ride off
property. Do not ride on Union Mills Road.
